Muldoon Roads Getting Needed Repairs

Muldoon Roads Getting Needed Repairs

Muldoon is getting some much needed street repairs done by the county. The corner of Second and Cochran Streets has been in disrepair for a while with large potholes. The county has brought in a crew and is doing the repairs. Hopefully the drainage problem in that corner will be corrected to help keep the street in good shape.

East Coast Trip

Penny and Steven McFarlin recently flew to the east coast into Boston, Mass. and then traveled to Cape Cod with Penny’s sister and brother in law, who is a paraplegic. This was an annual trip of 1/3 work, 1/3 vacation and 1/3 Steven eating his weight in lobster every day, and Steven reported that it was very good lobster and it was “really cheap” up there.

They stayed on a lake with temperatures only in the seventies! Steven tested the water and reported it was too cold for diving in, because there was no need to cool off. They spent one day in Provincetown, way out on the tip of the Cape. There they went whale watching and even sighted several. They did report they were thankful not to have spotted any sharks. Steven spent some of his time doing a bunch of maintenance type projects for his sister and brother in law.

On the return trip on Saturday they had a fantastic supper at a bayfront restaurant in Boston before flying back home.

Out and About

Kathy Chlumsky traveled recently over the weekend to Austin to do some “Grandma duty,” so her daughter Summer Smith and husband Ben Williams could have a quiet evening celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary. This was a prime opportunity to enjoy some time with her granddaughter Olivia and grandson Marcus. Olivia even got to come back to Muldoon with Grandma to spend a Sunday in the country. While here she baked Grandpa Frank a cake, fed the donkeys and did some art projects before having to go home. It was a fun filled weekend for everyone.

Nancie and Billy Blair enjoyed a wonderful family gathering for nephew Iaian Lang and his new bride Beth. Nancie’s brother, Iaian’s dad, Art Lang came down from Indiana and Nancie’s sister Lu Ginapp and her husband Fred brought their mom Elaine Lang down from Fort Worth for the gathering. They had rented a beautiful farm house north of La Grange and that made the perfect gathering place to catch up and visit.

Jennifer and Clay Rightmer went to Waco to help daughter Lane Rightmer move to a new place. It was quite the adventure trying to get what they needed to bring back to Muldoon home without it getting rained on. It was real trick to stay out of the showers enough to keep everything dry.

Ron and Pam Knotts spent the afternoon recently visiting Ron’s mom, Bettye Garner, in Bellaire. Bettye and her husband Bob have a staff of care givers that help in their home and one of Bettye’s favorites, Dorothy, was on duty the day of the visit. Ron and Pam took advantage of their visit to check up on things and hear about the daily routine that helps maintain the health and safety of Bettye and Bob. Ron’s mom is now 94 and is still interested in new gadgets, so she them out to buy her a new IPhone 11. She also had another job planned for Ron to change the light bulbs in the kitchen. Unfortunately upon inspection it was found that the light fixture was pulling away from the ceiling and the decision was made to replace it on the next visit, which will probably involve a phone tutorial as well on the new features on the phone.

Weather

Muldoon has been seeing almost daily rain showers in some part of the community. Temperatures have been a little on the muggy side in the afternoons, but the showers cool it back off with the rain cooled breezes.
