The Luminaria Ceremony, in which candles are lit for those lost to cancer, is one of the most poignant parts of the Relay for Life.

Bridging the Gap

Every day, it seems, more and more steel and concrete get added to the new Highway 71 business bridge over the Colorado River in La Grange. The two growing sides of the bridge have not met in the middle – yet. As we have reported previously, this new bridge will not replace the one adjacent to it, but rather the two bridges will co-exist, each carrying one-way traffic. Photos by Jeff Wick

Record Goes to Minnesota

The Fayette County Record travelled to Minnesota last week with the youth and adult chaperones from Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Hostyn and Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Plum. The locals were in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis ad St. Paul) along with about 250 others from around the nation, participating in a week of service work as part of Catholic Heart Work Camp. After the week of work, the locals got a chance to check out some of the local sites, including the massive outdoor art displays at the Walker Art Center and the Basiilica o St. Mary in downtown Minneapolis, both pictured above. Locals pictured above include, left to right: Front Row: Chloe Ripper, Ella Wick, Zachary Janda, Lily Toro, Lilliana Lucio; Back row: Donna Janda, Brooke Redding, Max O’Brien, Jeff Wick, Roxann Redding and Miguel Rios.
