City of La Grange Facade Grant Helps Back Porch BBQ Expand Outdoor Area
Back Porch BBQ and Grill, located at 1602 N. Jefferson Street in La Grange, has announced plans to expand and develop the outdoor space to the south of the restaurant at the corner of Hwy. 77 and Hwy. 71 Bypass into a dining and entertainment space. The area will include seating options for dining, an area for live music performances, and outdoor games canopied by the beautiful live oaks on that side of the property.
“We are excited to bring a unique place to La Grange where people can relax, enjoy delicious food, play games with their friends and family, and listen to some great music,” says Korin Burnett, owner of Back Porch.
Her husband Derrick adds, “We are thankful for the support that we have received from the community through the years and especially through the pandemic. We want to provide a place for people to come and enjoy getting back together after a tough year. It is a unique space that is really needed in our community. I think this is something that will be enjoyed by all ages for years to come.”
To help with the expansion and renovation of the outdoor space, the Burnetts applied for a Façade Grant through the City of La Grange. This grant program is designed to spur private investment in the community and to encourage property owners and businesses to improve the exterior appearance of their buildings and property. This strengthens locally owned businesses, which helps keep dollars in the local economy. “We are so thankful for the support from the City of La Grange and the La Grange Economic Development Corporation through the Façade Grant they approved for this project,” Korin affirms. “The incentive programs offered by La Grange Economic Development Corporation have encouraged us to make a greater personal investment in our community.”
The improvements on the property are already underway. Tim Scarborough, with Scar and Sons, is the contractor on the project and plans to use real time video streaming on site as work progresses. “It will be great for the community to be able to see the construction process and follow along with the project until it is complete. This is an excellent opportunity for the community to feel involved from start and finish,” says Tim Scarborough. The Burnetts are planning a big grand opening of the space when it is finished around the end of August. “We can’t wait to welcome everyone in to enjoy this new space. The project should be completed right around the time of the Fayette County Fair.
We’ve always been busy during the fair because of our location and now look forward to providing a place that can extend that fun atmosphere during the fair and beyond,” said Korin.
