Country legend John Conlee (Mr. Rose Colored Glasses), a regular performer at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville will be performing on Saturday, September 25 at 7 p.m. at the Sanford Schmidt Amphitheater in La Grange.

It takes an association of committed doers with different skillsets and expertise to pull off the longstanding, annual, local event’s topdrawer entertainment, exciting carnival, stunning queen’s contest, skillful displays of creative arts and outstanding livestock/ poultry shows.

Celebrates Birthday Mitchell Cherry celebrated his 7th birthday in style this year with a trip to Chucky Cheese in Austin with a bunch of his friends, one friend was from California. They had a blast dressing up in super hero costumes and playing all the games.

Mark your calendars for Aug. 22 when the Blood Drive will be held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. It is sponsored in conjunction with Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top.

Brenda Fietsam, Fayette County Clerk, has the following announcement regarding renewals of Registered Marks and Brands for livestock in Fayette County: In accordance with article 144.04 of the Agriculture Code, all marks, brands, and tattoos for livestock currently registered with the county clerk will expire after August 30, 2021. The Fayette County Clerk’s Office will begin the renewal process on all marks, brands and tattoos for livestock filed in Fayette County starting Aug.

Giddings Times & News Elizabeth Lara, 27 of Lexington, passed away and her 23-year-old boyfriend Johnathan Segundo, from Giddings, was airlifted with serious injuries after their vehicle slammed into the back of a farm tractor pulling a hay rake on FM 2440 on July 30 at 5:25 p.m. Segundo was driving Lara’s black 2016 Chevrolet Equinox SUV westbound when he struck the back of a 2020 Vista farm tractor being driven in the same direction by Erik Gilmore of Giddings.

In order to maintain the safe pod, and at the request of our members, NVCC will return to COVID-19 protocols at the Center in August 2021. A mask will be required to enter the building, your temperature will be taken at the door, you will be asked if you are vaccinated. If you are not vaccinated you will be asked to keep your mask on except for during eating. The next step is that all will wash hands and apply hand sanitizer, then you may enter the main room. NVCC asks for your support and to respect our elders, as this is their place and they need it to remain the safe place that it is for them.

Rachel Matocha, a Fayette County 4-H member, recently competed in the National Junior Brangus Show in Belton on July 27 through Aug. 1. Her heifer was Junior Heifer Calf Division Champion in both the Junior and Open Shows.
