NVCC to Return to Covid Precautions, Members Enjoy Bingo
In order to maintain the safe pod, and at the request of our members, NVCC will return to COVID-19 protocols at the Center in August 2021. A mask will be required to enter the building, your temperature will be taken at the door, you will be asked if you are vaccinated. If you are not vaccinated you will be asked to keep your mask on except for during eating. The next step is that all will wash hands and apply hand sanitizer, then you may enter the main room. NVCC asks for your support and to respect our elders, as this is their place and they need it to remain the safe place that it is for them.
NVCC welcomed Betty Stolarski and Sharon Rodriguez to the center last week and members appreciated Kathy Carpenter coming in on Monday and Wednesday to help on the serving line.
NVCC is still looking for people who like to draw, sketch, and pencil doodle. Do you like to sew or stitch? Are you crafty? Do you like to stay busy? Come in to the center on a Tuesday afternoon, from 2 to 4 p.m., for the Paint Shed or on a Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for Crafty Corner.
Some folks like to paint, others like to sew, and others like to do floral arrangements. What gets made, gets taken to the assisted living and nursing homes in town to brighten up their days. Some just like to help prep the posts for others to be creative on. They are a blessing and their special skills are so necessary. They help out by prepping which involves first cleaning, then sanding the posts. They will then apply a wood primer which is just painting the entire post, on all four sides, by covering it with primer. Once the posts are dry, they may then get to apply a base coat of a solid color, per the request of the person who the post is being created for. No matter what you like to do, whether its sewing, painting, arranging, drawing, it’s all good. This is a great way to get your creative juices flowing, it gets you going, it’s therapeutic, it’s for a great cause, and you’ll get to meet and be around some new friends and great people.
You may just be asking yourself, “how can me or my company be of service to this fine organization?” You or your company could be featured as one of the “Lunch & Learn Series” speakers to members. If you are interested in getting some exposure, in letting others know who you are and what you do, and presenting an interesting topic to members, please give us a call (979) 743-3227 and ask for Cindy.
When you are a speaker for our members, you will come and have lunch with us at 11:30 a.m. on a Monday. Then at 12 p.m., you would make a brief verbal presentation and provide information on a topic that is relevant to the senior population, such as highlighting what your company does, who you serve, what your product is, and how you contribute to our community. You would show them how they might benefit from your information and present them with a brochure or handout, with your contact information, that they can refer to later. What a great way to let others in our community know what you do and show how we can all work together.
