Disaster Declaration Renewed Here Amidst Scrutiny

A trio of citizens spoke regarding the Commissioners Court decision to extend the COVID-19 disaster declaration of Fayette County at a meeting Thursday, Sept. 24. The declaration has been in place since March 13. Commissioners have renewed it every two weeks since then.

11th Grader at La Grange High Tests Positive for COVID

La Grange ISD Superintendent Bill Wagner issued the following letter this morning to parents of students at La Grange High:

La Grange ISD has been notified that an 11th grade student in La Grange High School has tested positive for COVID-19. The student has not been in school since symptom onset. Due to the positive case La Grange ISD is following the protocols outlined in the Safe Return School document which is available on the La Grange ISD website.

La Grange Sixth Grader Tests Positive for COVID-19

La Grange ISD announced on Friday that a 6th grade student in La Grange Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. The student has remained home since symptom onset. Due to the positive case La Grange ISD is implementing the protocols outlined in the Safe Return School document.

Coronavirus Case Update

Last week’s mass free testing events at the Fayette County Fairgrounds resulted in an overall positivity rate 2.74% which is a fraction of the average for the state at the moment. Of the 656 people tested, 18 were positive.

Free Testing Next Week at Fairgrounds

A free, painless, COVID-19 testing event will be held Aug.17 - 21 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. There will be free testing for all and Fayette County residency is not required.

COVID-19 Case Count Up to 156 in Fayette County, 63 Active Cases

The number of people who tested positive for the coronoavirus in Fayette County has risen to 156 since officials began tracking the virus back in March. As of July 10, four people have died, and that number that has not changed in over a week; 84 people have recovered.
