Coronavirus Case Update

Last week’s mass free testing events at the Fayette County Fairgrounds resulted in an overall positivity rate 2.74% which is a fraction of the average for the state at the moment.

Of the 656 people tested, 18 were positive. Nine samples were advised to re-test due to poor samples. The age range was from infants to those 80+.

Currently Fayette County has 42 positive/probable cases. That’s down by three from Monday morning, and Fayette County Emergency Manager Craig Moreau said several more of those positive cases are about to recover and drop from that total.

“And there are not a lot of new cases cropping up,” Moreau said. “It’s going to happen, we’re going to have a few little spikes here or there, but we’re on a steady trajectory to get past this. I am cautiously optimistic, but it’s too early to call it a victory.”
