La Grange ISD Superintendent Bill Wagner issued the following letter this morning to parents of students at La Grange High:

La Grange ISD has been notified that an 11th grade student in La Grange High School has tested positive for COVID-19. The student has not been in school since symptom onset. Due to the positive case La Grange ISD is following the protocols outlined in the Safe Return School document which is available on the La Grange ISD website.

Our campus has been following the health and hygiene guidelines announced by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), the Center for Disease Control (CDC), and the State Health Department. These practices include the wearing of masks for 9th – 12th graders, social distancing as much as feasible, providing hand sanitizer stations, no shared water, and other safe protocols.

If contact tracing identifies any students who would meet the definition of having had “close contact” with the positive individual as defined in the Safe Return to School document, the parents of those students will be contacted individually.

Any student who experiences any of the symptoms of COVID-19 should self-isolate. As a reminder, the symptoms of COVID-19 are as follows:

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
