To the Editor: As we have all seen and heard of commercial traffic experiencing accidents coming down the Bluff on Hwy 77. Senate Bill 1053 was created to help deal with this situation unfortunately this bill failed to pass or come up for a vote.

“Brylcreem, a little dab will do you.” Do you remember this commercial song from the 30s and 40s? I do, and when I began to sing it this week, it made me think about all those products we grew up reading about, hearing about, and seeing in our homes. For instance, Lava soap.

To the editor: This past Memorial Day we honored the patriotic acts of our brave men and women in the military with parades and celebrations and proud displays of the American flag. But there is a far more genuine way to honor our military by our own act of patriotism during a pandemic that is still causing the death of far too many Americans especially in Texas and California.

Allen West, made me think about the letter in last Friday’s Fayette County Record written by a voter for Biden denying “buyer’s remorse.” She preposterously offers an “answer for the majority of Americans,” which can only be an introduction to her “alternative facts.” Biden’s current overall “approval rating” based on several pollster reports has not risen above 62% for the last month and is currently slightly over 53%, not 63%.

To the editor: Our State Senator and our County Judge both spoke for acceptance of Texas Senate Bill 1053 (restricting trucks on the bluff and the drive through Fayetteville). Historically, these two avenues have amounted to wrecks, and damaged property that is way above the norm.
