On Jun. 16, 1932, the U.S. House of Representatives echoed a Texas member’s call for cash compensation for veterans of the First World War, but a bloody disappointment was in store for the “bonus army” that had invaded Washington.

How many of you know someone who is constantly dieting or exercising to obtain the perfect body? And, who in their right mind, can ever truly have THE perfect body? To the editor: This is regarding the letter from the lady who proposes to start a crisis pregnancy center. She is hoping to start an organization that will among other things, assist women in finding a place to end their unborn child’s life, yet she is planning to ask the churches for help.

To the editor: I am sometimes informed, but mostly amused, by the Letters to the Editor in the Opinion section of the Fayette County Record. Whenever I am in doubt about current political or social issues, I can turn to the letters and find out what I am supposed to believe, and how to live my life.

To the Editor: An open letter to Charles Rettig, IRS Commissioner: Dear Mr. Rettig, I was pleased to receive a letter today from the Department of the Treasury, IRS division, notifying me that as part of the American Rescue Plan you had deposited to my bank account sufficient funds for me to buy meals for an entire day.
