Don’t Wait to Help

To the Editor: With all due respect to Glynis Tietjen, (and her letter last week) in a perfect world, her uninformed opinion about the LGBTQ community might be ok. However, waiting to address your child’s confusion about their sexual orientation may be too late as more than 60% of suicide attempts among LGBTQ people happen within five years of realizing they are LGBTQ.

Misleading Not the Way to Show Respect

To The Editor: It is saddening to read a letter like the misguided one on March 18 “Care For Our Children.” Thank goodness Governor Abbott has the courage to stand up for children, to protect them from the damaging attempts to obtain an impossible outcome. One cannot change what one was created.

It Takes a Village (of Non-Profit Organizations)

To The Editor: I’m still relatively new to the non-profit space, but I’d like to commend the non-profits of Fayette and surrounding counties for their continual support for one another. It’s refreshing to see individuals involved in all different kinds of non-profit organizations come together and support one another.
