Republicans Need to Look Forward Not Back

An item in the news column of the July 11 issue of National Review said “Texas Republicans attending the state party convention in June disgraced themselves. Measures approved by the convention asserted that ‘Biden was not legitimately elected. … Texas retains the right to secede from the United States.’ ” NR commented “Elected Texas Republicans have largely governed their state well, but the spectacle in Houston was a sign of rot.” National Review is a national journal very well respected by many conservatives. These valid observations are very painful.

Texas Republican party leaders obviously have their heads firmly screwed on backwards and can only see things in the past. The large majority of realistic Texas conservatives must speak up vigorously now and insist that our Republican party leaders get over their Don Quixote fixation, stop tilting at windmills, and look realistically to the future. There is too much at stake. We absolutely must demand that our party leaders FACE REALITY and work effectively for a successful future for our country.

Specifically, those of us who have enough gumption to take action on this matter should communicate promptly with our party leaders and elected representatives – emails are very effective -- and tell them to concentrate on the future and work hard for the election of realistic, intelligent, dedicated, forward-looking, conservative office holders in the upcoming November elections.
