County Changes Direction on Hazard Grant Application

Fayette County had planned to apply for a massive federal hazard mitigation grant to upgrade some low water crossings on county roads. That project has been put on hold for now. Instead, the County will apply for a grant to build a water pipeline to connect public water supply systems around the county.

Trash Fire Spreads in Mullins Prairie

La Grange firefighters put out a small grass fire at property along Mullins Prairie Loop Tuesday. The fire was reported shortly after 11 a.m. A worker on the property reported that he was burning some trash when the fire spread to surrounding grass. Here it is fall of 2020, and even in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico I can begin to feel the shift away from summer. The mornings are cooler, the days not quite as warm as they were just weeks ago, and blooming plants aren’t quite as radiant, except for the marigolds.

Weatherization Day Proclaimed

Fayette County Commissioners signed a proclamation designating October 30 as Weatherization Day in Fayette County. On hand for the signing was Karen Walpole, Communications Director of Combined Community Action, Inc and Meals on Wheels Rural Capital Area. Big Turnout for Early Voting

Tuesday was the first day of in-person early voting in Texas and locals have sure been turning out, with 1,932 in Fayette County voting just in the first two days. County to Apply for Waiver From State Mask Order

Fayette County Judge Joe Weber will ask the State to grant Fayette County a waiver to the Governor’s face covering order. Governor Greg Abbott issued the face covering order on July 2.
