Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites will offer their program “Ich Bin Ein Amerikaner” on Friday, July 3 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Celebrate the holiday with festive crafts, historic games, and ice cream-making. Special 4th of July-themed tours will be offered Friday and Saturday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
4th of July Parade
Round Top invites you enjoy the 175th Fourth of July parade in Round Top, this Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. Be sure to come early to get the best spot to view the parade as it is expected to bigger and better than ever for the 250th Celebration of the USA. Stay for the day for a fantastic barbecue lunch at the Round Top Rifle Hall just east of town on FM 1457 for $20 and then visit the free historic photo exhibit from 1865 at the Round Top Area Historical Society campus at 397 E. Mill St. in Round Top.
Habitat ReStore
Fayette County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is open for sales and donation drop-offs every Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at 825 N. Main St. in Schulenburg. The ReStore sells and accepts donations of home goods to support Habitat’s mission. Visit www.fchfh.org/ReStore.
There’s more The Round Top Area Historical Society invites you to a free Photographic event that will be open this Saturday from 2-5 p.m. (after the 4th of July parade at 10 a.m.) at the RTAHS campus behind the Round Top Post Office at 397 E. Mill St. The exhibit shows original photos from glass negatives of the people and landscapes of Round Top and surrounding areas from 18651920. Beautifully displayed with historic references, these photos captures the buildings, landscape and persons of interest. In a cool environment, air conditioned for relief from the heat, plan to spend your 4th of July in Round Top. American Legion Post, Auxiliary Meeting
TheAmerican Legion Post No. 102 and theAmerican Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 8, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. The Auxiliary agenda includes the Installation of Officers for the 2026-2027 term. The Girls State Delegate will also be present to give a brief summary of her experience at the June Girls State Session held in Seguin. Members are encouraged to attend the business meetings. New members are always welcome. A light meal will be served, with the regular business meetings to follow.
Kappler, Groeschel, Berger, Wukasch
All relatives and descendants of Andreas Kappler, Agnes Groeschel Kappler, John Ernst Berger, and Johanna Wukasch Berger are invited to attend a family reunion at the Holy Cross Church Hall on Saturday, July 11 beginning at 10 a.m. A meal will be served at 12:30 p.m. Please bring enough food for your family. Paper goods, tea, and coffee will be provided by the reunion. Bring your own soft drinks and beer. Donation for beer provided will be taken. There is a playground for the children. Everyone is invited to the monthly Community Prayer Gathering, an area wide multi-church sponsored event, meeting the first Sunday of each month at Redimidos Por Cristo Church is located across the street from Tejas Healthcare at 131 S. Proper Flag Disposal Drop Off Locations The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The drop-off bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or a box so that they are not laying on the ground.
Celebrate Recovery at Bridge Church Join us every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Building at 3007 Cedar Creek Drive for Celebrate Recovery a Christ-centered program designed to help individuals heal from hurts, habits, and hang-ups. Mica-Mares Family Reunion
The annual Mica-Mares family reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 3 at the Flatonia Civic Center from 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Bring a dish to share for the meal and donate an item for the silent auction.
CASA Casino Sock Hop
Get ready to eat, drink, play, and win all while supporting children in our community who need a voice to advocate for them during the CASA Casino Sock Hop on Saturday, July 18 from 5:30-10:30 p.m. at the Smithville Recreation Center located at 106 Royston St. in Smithville. Enjoy $10,000 in game chips, sock hop diner-themed dinner from Chabot Catering, sundae bar sponsored by BlueBell, popcorn donated by Film Alley, beer and wine all included with a ticket purchase. Cost is $85/person or two for $150. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the event at 7 p.m. for $65, but will not include the dinner portion of the evening.
