La Grange Little League recently completed $24,000 worth of renovations at the Little League Fields in town. “The fields were in really bad shape with erosion,” said La Grange Little League President Jake Kellen.

The La Grange softball team defeated Smithville 7-4 Tuesday to stay undefeated in district play Alyssa Licconi pitched a complete game for La Grange, allowing five hits and four runs. Sarah Kay had two hits for La Grange.

Just days after ending their basketball season in the state semifinals, Fayetteville began its baseball season with back-toback wins over Somerville last week. In Wednesday’s 13-2 victory Chance Konvicka, Kole Schmitt and Jake Kubala combined on the pitching effort.

The La Granger softball team pounded Manor New Tech 27-0 in their district opener last week on the road. Avery Marshall hit a pair of homers, including a grand slam.

The Flatonia Bulldog baseball team split their two District 29-2A ballgames last week over Spring Break. They picked up a 4-1 victory over the Schulenburg Shorthorns last Tuesday, but lost to the Ganado Indians 2-10 last Friday.

La Grange begins district baseball play next week and they head in feeling pretty confident. That’s in part to the strength of their pitching staff, which is led by a pair of senior starters Brayden Horton and Brock Loehr, who are both coming off strong starts at their home tourney last week.
