Flatonia Baseball Splits Two Over Spring Break

The Flatonia Bulldog baseball team split their two District 29-2A ballgames last week over Spring Break.

They picked up a 4-1 victory over the Schulenburg Shorthorns last Tuesday, but lost to the Ganado Indians 2-10 last Friday.

In Schulenburg last Tuesday, Flatonia came back from a 1-0 deficit after three innings to pull out a 4–1 victory.

Titan Targac pitched a gem of a ballgame in going six innings and only giving up one run on two hits, three walks, & had sixteen K’s. Cale Janecka pitched the last inning in relief to get a save.

Janecka had an RBI single during the 4th inning when the Dogs scored twice to take the lead.

Beck Zimmerman also walked with the bases loaded during the 4th to pick up a RBI.

Henri Vincik and Targac each reached base three times by base on balls. Diego Ramirez had the Bulldogs only other hit vs. the Shorthorns.

Last Friday at home Flatonia committed 8 errors on defense that contributed to the Ganado Indians defeating the Bulldogs by a 10-2 score.

Blake Kessler, Janecka, & Zimmerman combined to pitch the ballgame vs Ganado.

They combined to give up one earned run on nine hits, two walks, and seven K’s. Nine of the ten Ganado runs were unearned.

Flatonia could only score two runs on their eight hits that they collected vs the Indians.

Railey Nieto and Zimmerman each led the way with two hits apiece. Zimmerman hits were a triple and a double.

This week Flatonia plays at Moulton on Tuesday, March 19 at 6 p.m. Then on Friday, March 22 the Dogs will host Weimar in a 7 p.m. ballgame.
