Senior Hurlers Horton and Loehr Shine For the Leps

La Grange begins district baseball play next week and they head in feeling pretty confident. That’s in part to the strength of their pitching staff, which is led by a pair of senior starters Brayden Horton and Brock Loehr, who are both coming off strong starts at their home tourney last week.

Horton threw five innings of one-run ball in a win over Bellville. Loehr overcame some early unearned runs to pitch a complete game victory over state ranked Columbus.

“What they have given us on the mound this year has been really good,” La Grange head coach Robert Barber said. “Brayden worked out of some tough spots (against Bellville). Brock’s going on three years (as a starter). He’s not an overpowering guy but he knows what his stuff is. He settled in nicely (against Columbus) and kept putting zeros on the board and gave our offense a chance to claw back into it.”

Horton: “He taught me quite a few things, a lot about how to use my legs and how to control.”

Horton: “They are all decent hitters but probably Bennett Barber” Loehr: “Ty (Stark), he hits me like every time.”

Horton: “When we win.”

Loehr: “When we win but also when I throw well it really makes me happy.”
