Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Aug. 20-26.

My daughter and son-inlaw, Jodi and Scott Miller, invited me to travel with them to Minnesota as a birthday gift and to look at the turning of the leaves. We flew out of Austin on Sept. 28 arriving in Minneapolis/ St. Paul in the late afternoon and after renting a car we drove to the town of Albert Lea in the middle of the southern part of the state. It was beautiful with flowers everywhere and we spent several days visiting. We also spent some time at other towns along Interstate 90.

The 11th annual BBQ Showdown benefiting Combined Community Action, Inc, and the Family Crisis Center, in Memory of Judy Hielscher of Winchester, will be held at Shorty’s Bar and 8902 FM 153 on Oct. 14.

Justin Trevino will headline this month’s special tribute to the late and great Johnny Bush on Monday, Oct. 16, at the La Grange KC Hall in La Grange. Doors open 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

If you are traveling through Muldoon it is best to stay on the main roads. There are three county road bridges that are under construction with road closures. There are at least two more on the books to be repaired. On the books for the upcoming future are bridges on Old Smithville North and Old Smithville South.

Turtle Wing Foundation will be hosting their 11th Annual Monster Dash Sunday, Oct. 22 from 5-7 p.m.
