    Muldoon Bridges Under Construction

If you are traveling through Muldoon it is best to stay on the main roads. There are three county road bridges that are under construction with road closures. There are at least two more on the books to be repaired. On the books for the upcoming future are bridges on Old Smithville North and Old Smithville South.

Presently Busby Branch on Boehnke Road is almost finished, but the roadway is still closed. The bridge over Buckners Creek on Wallace Road has now been torn out and the new bridge is under construction. Also being built is the bridge over Live Oak Creek on Parkerville Road. The dry weather has made the construction process go much faster without the weather delays. These bridges have been needing repair and have finally gotten the attention that is required. Please note these closures and stick to traveling the paved FM highways in the area.

Out and About

Kathy Chlumsky went to Austin to watch the grandkids, Marcus and Olivia. Their mom, Summer Smith, went to hike the rim of the Grand Canyon and dad, Benjamin Williams announced for a triathlon in Texas City. Kathy and the kids had a great time. After school on Friday they had a movie/party night. Marcus and Olivia really enjoyed staying up late with Grandma. On Saturday they had fun playing and watching cartoons. When Kathy left mom and dad were left to “unspoil” the kids.

Nancie Blair, Tricia Grist, Kim Bonewald and I took off on the last Thursday of September for a great “quilt adventure.” We headed for the San Antonio area for the Spooky Quilt Shop Hop. We made six shops; two more than was on the hop. It was fun seeing all the different shops and seeing what new and different fabric each had to offer. We enjoyed lunch in Bandera as we started our swing for home. It was a long day, but what fun it was shopping with friends. Everyone came home with multiple projects to make before Christmas.

Church News

The Stray Cowboy Gathering would like to invite the area youth ages 13-18 years of age to come and join in the fun and learning on Wednesday nights 6-8 p.m. ROPE (Rely On Prayer Everyday) is set up for everyone to have fun and learn about the Bible. A meal is first on the agenda for the teenagers followed by creative activities for everyone to get to know each other better and learn Biblical truths to use in life. Just come out and see what all the excitement is all about.

Sunday mornings at S2CG starts at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and fellowship. The church invites anyone in the area to come out and join in the service and learn more of what is going on.Worship begins at 10 a.m with some great music and a strong Biblical message.

Hogs

The hogs are back and the area hog hunter, Chris Joplin is back at it too. Chris has been trapping like crazy catching and eliminating lots of the nuisance animals that are tearing up pastures and making life even harder for those ranchers trying to survive the drought. He has caught twenty three in the last two weeks and is working hard to catch and eliminate even more.
