The Martin Luther Lutheran Church Harvest Festival and Homecoming will be this Sunday, Oct. 15 at the Carmine Hall with country & western theme songs. Confirmation classes of years ending in a 3 and 8 will be recognized. Worship service with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m.

A meal of barbecue pork ribeye, sausage, baked beans, coleslaw, and German potatoes will be served as dine in or carry out from 11 a.m. until 12:20 p.m. A drawing will be held at 12:30 p.m.

Contact the church office at (979) 278-3388 to see if meal tickets are still available. Tickets for the drawing are also available at the church office.

RT-C School News

RT-C varsity volleyball team defeated Prairie Lea in three sets on Sept. 29. The games with Aggieland Homeschool, scheduled for Sept. 26 were all canceled.

On Oct. 10, Jr. High, JV and varsity teams play at Fayetteville with the Jr. High game at 4 p.m. Varsity plays at Burton on Oct. 13 at 5 p.m.

The high school district cross country meet will be held at Fayetteville on Oct. 12.

The school board meeting is on Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. at the elementary campus.

Mr. Schovajsa’s Biology class completed an osmosis lab using eggs to study cell membranes regulating the movement of water.

Coach Weishuhn’s Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness class created 3D digestive system models to represent digestion.

Bingo for Seniors

Bingo for Seniors (age 60 and older, plus guests) will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center this Sun., Oct. 15. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks and drinks are available for a freewill donation.

This is a nonprofit community event for entertainment.

Carmine VFD

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Drill night is Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.

A burn ban continues to be in effect for Fayette County.

Carmine Antique Show

The Carmine Dance Hall Antique Show is scheduled for Oct. 20-25. Preview is Oct. 20 from 5-7 p.m. Hours on Oct. 21-24 are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. On the last day, Oct. 25, hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. It is located at 300 N Hauptstrasse in Carmine.

Top dealers from around the country will be selling Americana, furniture, accessories, folk art, paintings, sculpture, quality antique tools, textiles, art pottery, stoneware, texas art, silver estate jewelry, toys, mid-century modern, objects d’art and much more.

Rebekah Group meets Thursday at 2 p.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.

Harvest Festival with Homecoming is Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Note the time change for this Sunday only. Confirmation classes will be recognized at the beginning of worship. Holy Communion will be served. It is the nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Domino party is Monday at 1 p.m.

Meals on Wheels

Senior Citizens Meals on

Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and is for pick-up only until 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

To sign up, come by on any Wednesday morning to fill out the paperwork. For more information, call Marilyn Wagner at (979) 277-4134.

Visitors’ Center

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot now is open only on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Recycling Trailer

The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.

Accepted are clean no. 1 and no. 2 plastic (please separate them and take note that no. 5 plastics are not accepted), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.

The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
