Fayetteville to Use $3.4 Million Grant for Infrastructure Improvements

    Fayetteville to Use $3.4 Million Grant for Infrastructure Improvements

For the new aeration basin, the City will soon issue a request for bids through the Texas Community Block Grant Program. Bids will cover several items. The City of Fayetteville will be receiving a $3.4 million grant from the Texas General Land Office Community Development & Revitalization Program. The funds will be used primarily for infrastructure including water, sewer repair or replacement. Plans are being developed.

Taxes

The City has had a great response to the request for taxes from anyone that rents rooms or has a B&B.

Paving

A few streets throughout our town will be repaved beginning in October.

FISD

Students of FISD JH Science teacher Mrs. Beseda stirred things up in eighth grade Chemistry Reaction Lab.

Confirmation

Audrey and Abbey Bell were confirmed recently at St. Paul Lutheran. The girls helped lead the service and a reception was held in their honor.

Red & White

Enjoy an artists’ talk this Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Red & White Gallery. It’s all part of the second Fayetteville Clay Invitational featuring artists from San Antonio, San Marcos, Wimberley and Fayetteville. The work may be viewed online: www.redandwhitegalleryonline. com.

Food Pantry

The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will be at St. John on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. This will no longer be a drive-thru food distribution. Clients will walk up to the entrance and are asked to bring bags or carts for pickup.

Rosary Crusade

America Needs Fatima Public Square Rosary Crusade will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, on the lawn of our square at 12:p.m. It marks the 106th anniversary of the Miracle at Fatima, where she appeared to three shepherd children, asking them to say the Holy Rosary daily. The public is invited. You may bring a lawn chair if you wish.

Lickskillet

Mark your calendar for an amazing weekend coming up soon. The tradition continues with the 46th Annual Lickskillet Festival on Oct. 21 and 22 presented by The Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce.

Enjoy live music, kids crafts, the Lickskillet Parade, Czech Dancers, BBQ by Peter’s, burgers by Joe’s and the Fayetteville Baseball Association, homemade goods from over 30 vendors, cold drinks, cold cocktails and live and silent auctions. All kinds of other great information is listed on posters placed just about everywhere and on their website.

Barbecue meal tickets for the event can now be purchased online at www.greaterfayettevillechamber. org and click on the signup genious meal ticket link. Meal tickets are also available for purchase at Fayetteville Bank, Orsak’s, Joe’s Place and the Wine Bar.

The Chamber is currently seeking lots of live and silent auction items for the event. Many thanks to everyone who has donated a few already. All can be dropped off at Orsak’s for Terri McPherson. Medicare Presentation

Tammy Rush, an insurance broker with Fred Roberts & Associates, is speaking on Medicare education Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 12:30 at the Fayette Public Library and 2:30 at the Round Top Library. It’s free to attend. “We’re getting into open enrollment, which runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, and a lot of changes are happening with prescription drug and Medicare plans that aren’t necessarily beneficial to the consumer,” stated Rush.
