LG’s Woods, Ehler Win District Field Event Titles

The District 22-4A track meet began last Wednesday in Taylor, but Thursday’s running finals were postponed until this Tuesday. Distance and Field event finals were held Wednesday. The top four placers in each event advance to the area meet April 19 in La Grange. Here are the La Grange athletes who placed:

Diggs Sprints His Way to Athlete of the Week Honors

La Grange track runner Austen Diggs’ speed is a force to be reckoned with and he has the stats to show for it. Last month at indoor nationals, Diggs won titles in the 60 meter and 200 meter events, then followed that up with a fifth place finish in the 100 meter event at the Texas Relays.

Baseball/Softball Roundup

The La Grange baseball team lost its first district game of the season Tuesday at Taylor, falling 7-2. The Leps are now 8-11 overall and 3-1 in district.

Weimar 1st and Schulenburg 2nd at District Golf Tourney

The Schulenburg Shorthorns finished 2nd as a team in the district golf tournament Monday in Weimar with a team score of 375. Weimar finished 1st with a score of 374. Reid Janda with a score of 81 and Kaz McBride with a score of 85 finished 1st and 2nd as individuals. Other Horns competing were Jackson Faith, Brycen Schramek, Jayse Janda, Van Prihoda, Kenny Schramek, and Cooper Demel. Lady Horns competing were Makena Kopecky and Larissa Bohlmann.

Youens/Supak Advance To Regionals in Tennis

Here are the results from the La Grange Varsity and JV district tennis tournaments Wednesday and Thursday in Caldwell: Varsity Mixed Doubles- Campbell Youens (Sr)/Corbin Supak (Sr) - 2nd place (advance to Regionals at Bryan HS on Tuesday, April 11) JV Girls Singles - Marissa Muras (Fr) - 1st place Boys Singles - Graham Youens (Fr) - 1st place Girls Doubles - Eleanor Carey (Fr)/Ella Nygren (Fr)1st place Boys Doubles - Cullen Mathis (Sr)/Austin Nedbalek (Sr) - 1st place Oliver Gunn (Fr)/Collin Landis (So) - 2nd place.

1973 State Baseball Champion Leps to Be Honored Thursday

It’s been 50 years since the La Grange High School baseball team won the 1973 state title. Members of that championship team are going to reunite and be honored before Thursday’s 7 p.m. varsity game at La Grange High School against Taylor. The ceremony will begin about 6:45 p.m. The above photo was taken the day the Leps won the title by Warren O. Albrecht.
