La Grange Boys Win District 22-4A Track Title

Led by strong performances in the relays and two sprint titles by Austen Diggs, the La Grange boys won the District 22-4A team title Tuesday in Taylor. The Lady Leps were second behind Giddings. Last week the field events and 3200 meters were held (those results ran in Tuesday’s edition) but the other running finals were washed out by rain until Tuesday. Here are those Tuesday finals. Top four advance to the area meetApril 21 (note date change) in La Grange.

• The Schulenburg softball team lost to Shiner Tuesday 7-2 as the Lady Horns fell to 12-8 overall and 5-6 in district. Brianna Vavra pitched a complete game with five strikeouts and Tamara Otto had two of the Lady Horns hits. Monday Schulenburg pounded Flatonia 10-0.

RT-C’s Egypt Woods Medals in Every Event She Competed in at District Meet

Round Top-Carmine track runner Egypt Woods plays a bunch of sports and recently helped her track team in a big way. At the District 29-1A meet, she won the title in the long jump event, then went on to lead her team to a runner up finish as the anchor leg in both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays en route to a District 29-1A team title.

Kruse Leads Leps to Win Over State-Ranked Taylor

Against a state-ranked opponent, the La Grange baseball team grabbed one of its most dramatic, and important wins of the season. Rallying from a 3-1 deficit, the Leps scored three runs on the top of the sixth inning Monday to beat state-ranked Taylor 4-3 in a victory that vaulted the La Grange into a tied for first with the Ducks.

Busy Week Ahead on the Diamond for LG Teams

The La Grange baseball and softball home games that were rained out Thursday have been rescheduled for Monday, April 10. The second place Leps (3-2 in district) will host district- leading Taylor Monday at 4:30 p.m.
