Fayetteville, RTC Advance to Play Each Other

It’s an all-Fayette County Regional semifinal baseball playoff series.

The Round Top-Carmine Cubs beat Leakey 11-0 Thursday in Burnet, while Fayetteville swept Medina in a bestof- three series last week.

That vaults these neighbors into a battle between each other in the regional semifinals. Details of that series were not finalized at press time.

The Fayetteville baseball team had no trouble sweeping Medina in a playoff doubleheader Thursday in Dripping Springs. In Game 1 the Lions won 10-0 as Reid Gross pitched a complete game three-hitter with six strikeouts. At the plate Gross also had two hits, including a triple.

Jake Kubala and Easton Jaeger both had two hits for the Lions in Game 1 and Chance Konvicka and Logan Fritsch each drove in two runs.

In Game 2, the Lions won 12-5. Jack Schley threw three innings for the Lions before Chance Konvicka pitched four scoreless innings of relief. Jaeger had three hits in that game for Fayetteville and scored three runs. Kubala had two hits and Lawson Fritsch drove in three runs.
