Loehr’s No-Hitter Leads Leps to Second Round
Thursday in Waller in their playoff opener La Grange dominated Houston’s Mickey Leland High School 10-0 to advance to the second round of the 4A baseball playoffs.
La Grange pitcher Brock Loehr hurled a no-hitter.
“Brock was in total control,” La Grange baseball coach Robert Barber said. “He commanded the zone well. The best I’ve ever seen from him. Threw 58 pitches and 45 of them were strikes. He continuously worked ahead of hitters and that led to a lot of his success as well. This allows for him to attack hitters in many different ways. Him being around the zone kept his defense focused as they made several nice plays for him to help preserve his no-hitter.”
Offensively the Leps were led by Cody Kruse, who drove in two runs, Bennett Barber, who had two hits and an RBI, and Jaden Williams, who hit a triple and drove in one.
The Leps now advance to face China Spring in a best-ofthree series.
Games 1 and 2 are Friday beginning at 5 p.m. in Del Valle. If necessary, a Game 3 would be held at 2 p.m. Saturday back in Del Valle.
