Schulenburg Golfers Qualify for State

The Schulenburg Shorthorns competed in the UIL Regional Golf Tournament in Corpus Christi last week finishing in 3rd place and advanced to the state tournament to be held on May 22-23 in Austin. The Horns were in 5th place at the end of the 1st day of competition. In the 2nd round the Horns improved their 1st round score by 15 strokes to edge out Snook and Junction and finish 3rd. The Lady Leps Start Playoffs This Thursday

The La Grange softball team will open the playoffs Thursday April 27 against Houston Wheatley at Rice Consolidated High School. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. but will begin 20 minutes after the completion of the 4 p.m. game being played prior.

Lady Horns Dance Into the Playoffs

The Schulenburg softball team wrapped up its regular season with a 19-2 win over Louise Tuesday to finish with a 15-8 overall record and a 8-6 mark in district. Two La Grange track athletes were left off the list of area qualifiers in Tuesday’s edition. Both Riley Youens (shot and discus) and Maddi Fritz (discus) qualified for area and will compete Friday in La Grange.

Shorthorns Honor First Responders, Vets

The Schulenburg baseball team hosted First Responders and Veterans Night at the Ballpark on Friday April 14. Shown above are the Shorthorns posing with the honorees before the game. Then Schulenburg went out and blasted Bloomington 13-1. Van Prihoda is shown here pitching in the game. The Shorthorns close out the regular season at Ganado Friday.

Laurel Betak No-Hits Moulton

The Flatonia Lady Dog softball team split their four district games that they played last week. The ladies defeated Moulton 20-1 and 17-1 in a double header that they played last Friday. Earlier in the week, Flatonia lost to Schulenburg 10-0 on Monday, and lost to Ganado 22-6 on Tuesday.

Lions Run Away With Area Title

The Fayetteville track team poses with the hardware they won at the area meet last week in Runge, including the boys team title plaque after the Lions tallied 171 points, easily beating second place Pettus, which had 96. One of the stars for the Lions was Lawson Fritsch, below, who won the boys pole vault event with a 12-foot clearance.

Leps Clinch Baseball Playoff Berth

The La Grange baseball team went on the road and bashed Manor New Tech Tuesday 14-0 to officially clinch a playoff berth. The Leps are now 5-3 in district with two games to go in the regular season. The Leps host Manor Friday at 7 p.m. and then close out the regular season Tuesday at home against Giddings at 7 p.m.
