Marburger Snags 170-Pound Hog

On May 27, 2023, John Marburger snared his 27th feral pig on his farm near Warda, a sow weighing 170 pounds. “She was the biggest feral pig I have snared to date (she weighed more than I do!). The largest pigs I have heretofore snared have been boars weighing 110 pounds. The likely reason my snare wire held a pig this size is that (would you believe) she was snared on the very tip of her snout, and her pulling on the snare wire probably hurt her. Some of my snares are very routinely ripped away, probably by pigs too big for the wire to hold ‘em,” Marburger said.
