Ronnie grew up in Dime Box, Texas, attended and graduated from Dime Box High School in 1964. It was during his high school years he met the love of his life, Shirley Ann (Wagner) Zwernemann. Ronnie and Shirley were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Old Dime Box, Texas on Nov. 7, 1964.

Jenelle Linda Oeltjendiers was born on April 8, 1939 in La Grange, Texas to parents Arnold and Linda (Kaase) Roesler. Jenelle passed through death into eternal life on June 24, 2025 in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 86. She was baptized into the Lutheran church as an infant and she confirmed her Christian faith as a young adult. Jenelle met her future husband Henry Oeltjendiers while they were both attending La Grange public schools (La Grange High School class of 1954). Henry and Jenelle were married on September 8, 1963 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in La Grange.
