Edna Mae Krivacka died in La Grange on Aug. 12, 2025, at the age of 90. Edna Mae was born on July 16, 1935, in Ellinger to Sophie and John Jasek.

After graduating High School, Edna Mae attended Wharton County Jr College and became an LVN. Shortly after receiving her license, she attended Sacred Heart Dominican College in Houston, Texas where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse.

While home, Edna Mae met her husband, Ed, of 64 years, at a Fayetteville dance. They were married on May 24, 1959, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellinger. On May 29, 1960, she gave birth to their only child, Mark.

While living in Eagle Lake, she worked at the hospital and served as the Director of Nurses. She was passionate about her career in nursing as she loved helping people. Also, while living in Eagle Lake, Edna Mae was active in the Texas Nursing Association, served as a Cub Scout Leader, taught Catholicism, and was the first female elected to the Eagle Lake City Council. She also taught Vocational Evening Adult Classes at Prairie View A&M University.

When Ed retired from education, they moved back to Fayette County, settling in La Grange. She resumed her nursing career in La Grange at multiple nursing homes as the Director of Nurses. She retired from her nursing career after 50 years of caring for others. In retirement, she and Ed managed an apartment complex for some years later.

Edna Mae is survived by granddaughter Samantha Younger, her husband Kyle, and their son Colter; and grandson Ethan Krivacka; as well as nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Edna’s favorite pup, Tucker, also survives. Edna Mae was predeceased by her husband, Ed, their son, Mark, her sister Evelyn, and her parents.

Edna Mae’s family would like to give special thanks to Mary Norsworthy for all her help and love, especially these last few years.

Her service will be held on Sept. 3, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville. A private burial will be conducted after.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Edna Mae’s name to the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, P.O. Box 6, La Grange, Texas, 78945 or the American Cancer Society.
