On Monday, May 3, 2021, Clara Ella Ricklefsen, 95 years, passed away in Round Rock, Texas. She was born to Anton Poncik and Ann Evanicky Poncik on Tuesday, March 23, 1926 in Rosenberg, Texas. She grew up on a farm and attended school at Rabbs Prairie, Texas. On September 15, 1941, in Giddings, Texas, Clara married Milton B. Ricklefsen and lived in Houston, Texas. After the birth of their first son, Robert (Bob) Clyde Ricklefsen in Houston, they moved to Rosenberg, where their second son, Lawrence (Larry) Wayne Ricklefsen, was born.

Rosario Rivas de Zamudio, 65, from Ellinger, died on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Rosario was born in Pueblo Viejo, Zacatecas, Mexico, on April 18, 1956, the daughter of Lucas Rivas Uribe and Carlota Rodríguez de Rivas (biological mother ), and Carmen Guillen de Rivas (mother).

Funeral services for Gladys Mae (Oeding) Dippel, 102, of La Grange are set for 11 a.m., Friday, May 7, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in La Grange, with Rev. Andy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at La Grange City Cemetery.

Waldine (Veith) Banik, 81, of Round Top, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 26, 2021. Waldine was born on July 11, 1939 in the Rock House community near Industry to the late Walter and Nathalie (Koch) Veith.

Benjamin “Bennie” James Schertz was born on March 2, 1954 to Bennie Albert Schertz and Annie Evelyn Schertz in La Grange. Bennie graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism and was a proud member of the class of 1976.

Funeral services for William “Harold” Pieratt Jr., 82 of La Grange, were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Giddings with Pastor Troy Sikes and Pastor Andy Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.
