McCraw

Leon Frank McCraw was born in New Ulm on Aug. 26, 1921 to Morris Langston and Mamie Estelle McCraw. His father was a section foreman for the MK&T railroad. Leon weighed 2 lbs. when he was born and was not expected to survive. The lady that worked for them put him in a shoe box in the oven to keep him warm and miraculously he made it.

Janda Stephen Robert Janda was born Oct. 19, 1961 in Caldwell, to Robert and Mildred Janda. Steve was united in marriage to Jeanette Lorenz at Immanuel Lutheran Steve passed away the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Jeanette of Hills; son, Ian and Alex Janda and daughter Joy of Brenham; son, Jacob and Sarah Janda and daughters, Ella and Layla of Giddings; daughter, Kaitlyn Janda and Wyatt Pavlicek of Midway; mother-in-law, Gertrude Lorenz of Giddings; brother, Daryl and Rhonda Janda of Lexington; brother-in-law, Richard Hazel of Arlington; sistersin- law, Jolene and Paul Fischer of Giddings, Eunice and John Siegmund of Ledbetter; special aunt, Norma Goetz of Shiner, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner and Rev. Joshua Hahn officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Meyer Funeral services for Doris Meyer, 79 of Giddings, were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner and Rev. Joshua Hahn officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Doris Marie (Mitschke) Meyer was welcomed home by her Heavenly Father on Sept. 8, 2022. She was born March 25, 1943 in Ledbetter to Otto and Evelyn Mitschke. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Otis A. Meyer; son, Galen M. Meyer; daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and Alan B. Roberts; granddaughters, Jennifer and Doak Dunkin and Allyson and Jacob Heiner; grandchildren, Bendyl Dunkin and Doak Alan Dunkin and Emory Heiner; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Lory Mitschke; sister-in-law, Janice Mitschke and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Funeral arrangements by Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Ann (King) of La Grange; son, Stephen Campbell and wife, Sheryl, of Spring; son, Scott Campbell and wife, Joy, of Katy; grandchildren: Carson Campbell of Spring; Kate Campbell of Houston; Cooper Campbell of Midland; and Janey Campbell of Katy. Gerald was born on June 20, 1939, to parents Thomas Melvin and Leona Campbell of Kingsville. He was graduated in 1958 from King High in Kingsville where he met the love of his life and wife, Ann. Post high school, he pursued his passion for music and earned a Bachelor of Music in 1961 from the University of North Texas and a Master’s in Education in 1963 from Texas A&M University at Kingsville.

Wilma was born in Austin on July 25, 1945, the daughter of William McCarty and Hazel Mae (Holt) McCarty. Wilma married Tommy King, Sr. in 1968 in Austin. They had eight children together. Wilma loved all her family and enjoyed family get togethers. There was nothing better than Family Night Poker. Wilma loved to travel, trying her luck at the Casinos once in a while. She loved Bingo! She also had a love of fishing. She looked forward to the Womens’s trip to the coast every year. She is survived by daughters: Helen Lawson of DeVilla; Rebecca McKovy and husband, Leo ofTemple; Deborah Bills of Rogers, and Rhonda King of Belton; brother, Steve McCarty of La Grange; sisters: Bertha Plumley of Buckholts and Diane Reid of La Grange, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tommy King, Sr.; sons: Jerry King, Morris Morgan and Tommy King; daughter, Lisa Warren and sisters: Joyce Cordell and Judy Riley.
