Sally Irene (Smith) Beettner, 62, of La Grange, passed from this life into Eternal Life on Oct. 22, 2022. Sally literally went to sleep in

Jesus. Sally was born inAngleton on July 15, 1960, to Grady and Luene Smith. She attended school in Snook, Brenham, and Burton. Sally married David Beettner on April 1, 1989 and they lived near La Grange for many years until David’s death in 2000. Sally moved to La Grange and attended the Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God Church as long as she was able to go. Sally loved going to church, visiting family, and going out to eat. She could tell you the menu of each of her favorite restaurants and what the daily specials were. She loved watching TV and could tell you the programming better than the TV Guide. She knew all about the actors of her favorite shows and all about their families. Sally’s memory was amazing. Sally loved Christmas and always had a Christmas card for family members.

Sally was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and began a long battle, taking radiation and chemotherapy and traveling many miles for treatments. Sally developed lower spine fractures in January of 2020 and on April 3, 2020 was admitted to Care Inn of La Grange. After Covid shutdown was lifted she continued her chemo until April 2022. She became a hospice patient with Brazos Valley Hospice in May 2022.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David and brother, James Smith. She is survived by her sister, Beverly Ann Drescher and husband, Frank; brother, Bill Smith and wife, Cecilia; brother, Roy Smith and wife, Mary; stepdaughter, Christina Rust; stepson, David Beettner, Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a multitude of cousins. Sally’s family would like to thank the Brazos Valley Hospice Staff and nurses for the care they gave Sally during these last months. Thank you to family and friends who have been such a vital part of Sally’s life, she loved every one of ya’ll. In lieu of flowers in memory of Sally, please donate to your church or favorite charity. Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 28, 2022 at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations from 12 to 2 p.m., followed by Graveside Services at 3 p.m at Waldeck Cemetery, Waldeck.
