My name is Pastor Will Martin and I am running for the office of Fayette County Judge. To be clear, I am not intending to run against anybody. My plan is to run for something. The freedoms we love so dear have been taken from the American people. Perhaps a greater concern, there have been no local voices reminding our people of the foundations of our freedom. Sure, people talk about Freedom all the time. But, time and again, they fail to grasp where those freedoms come from. You cannot hang a chandelier from the clouds. Nor can you have freedom without a foundation.

The Lower Colorado River Authority is offering grants up to $50,000 for community projects throughout LCRA’s wholesale power, water and transmission service territory. Applications for the new round of Community Development Partnership Program grants will be available online in January and must be submitted by midnight Jan.

The La Grange Noon Lion and Leo Clubs helped Santa deliver Christmas gifts to the Whispering Hills Achievement Center for children. Whispering Hills is a treatment center for CPS children that have special needs including autism. The on site staff provide medical, educational, food and lodging services. Flatonia ISD supplements this effort by providing a teacher during regular school hours.

St. Mark’s Medical Center’s (SMMC’s) Foundation representatives recently installed four new engraved memorial pavers in the hospital’s Kelley’s Healing Garden.

The Fayette Memorial Post No. 5254 La Grange VFW and Auxiliary held an annual Christmas party at the Post Home on Tuesday, Dec. 21 with a social at 5 p.m. followed by a catered meal of turkey and ham and all the trimmings at 6 p.m. Fellowship and door prizes were enjoyed by all.
