St. Rose Students Heard From Guest Speaker

Richard Gray was a guest speaker on Nation Day of Catholic Schools Week for the students and staff at St. Rose School on Wednesday, Feb. 2. He was in the Navy and is a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War in La Grange. Mr. Gray spoke on patriotism, opportunities offered by the military and shared personal stories of his career and experiences. He called on the Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest winners to read their essays for the group and answered several questions in between discussions about the various military branches.

Multi-County New Landowner Educational Series Begins Feb. 18

The Multi-County New Landowner Education program is a series of seven informational meetings, seminars, and field days designed to make new landowners in Austin, Colorado, Fayette, and Washington Counties aware of what types of agricultural enterprises are best for their property. Participants in the program will hear from experts in a variety of fields in agriculture about best management practices that can be implemented on their own property.

2022 Turtle Wing Toast Event was a Big Success

The 2022 Turtle Wing Foundation Toast was a success as supporters of the foundation gathered in celebration of all of the wonderful things accomplished over the past year. This year’s theme of “Capturing Hearts” was introduced, and a special program with testimonials from Turtle Wing individuals, families, volunteers, and providers were given during the “I Am” program.

10,152 Meals Packaged in Less Than Two Hours

On Saturday, Feb. 5, the Rotary Clubs of Flatonia, Hallettsville, Shiner, and Yoakum co-sponsored a global service project, Rise Against Hunger, at the Flatonia Civic Center. Rotary International is a non profit service organization, whose motto is “Service Above Self ” and whose theme for this year is “Rotary Serves to Change Lives.”

Knights of Columbus Donate to Sacred Heart

The La Grange Knights of Columbus Council No. 2574 helped serve doughnuts, juice, and coffee during Cathoic Schools Week at Sacred Heart Catholic School. They also presented a monetary donation to the school that will greatly benefit the students and reflects their continued support of Catholic education.
