Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Jan. 23-29.
Agency Assist
On Jan. 24, Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 1200 block of Herder in reference to an elderly female that had fallen and could not get up. Kalina assisted EMS with getting her up.
Animal Complaint
On Jan. 23, Officer Juan Castilleja was informed of a public service and made contact with an individual who advised her neighbors dogs were in violation of the noise ordinance. Officer advised complainant they were monitoring the situation.
On Jan. 24, Officer Frank Parkinson responded to the 600 block of Upton for four big dogs that were always getting into fights and barking and being noisy.
On Jan. 27, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 700 block of South St. for a dog that was on a chain five feet long. Officer informed dog owners that the new law has taken affect and the dog must be on a longer chain. Officer will follow up.
On Jan. 27, Vincent found two puppies near Colonial in the 500 block of West. They had tags and they were reunited with owner.
Disturbance
On Jan. 23, Kalina responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a male subject in the bathroom. The subject was acting erratic and the officer was able to get him something to eat and then gave him a ride back to the Loves in Weimar.
On Jan. 27, Kalina responded to the 1000 block of S. Kessler for a disturbance. Individual left prior to officer’s arrival.
Theft
On Jan. 29, Parkinson spoke with complainant at the police station who advised he wanted a criminal trespass on an individual that frequently takes things from the supermarket without paying or them. A trespass warning will be issued.
Traffic Stop
On Jan. 24, Sgt. Tobey McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of N. Kessler for a vehicle with a stolen plate. The plate was stolen out of New York and not Texas. A warning was issued for failure to display.
On Jan. 24, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Lyons and Paulus for a vehicle with excessive use of his muffler and for pulling away in an unsafe manner.
On Jan. 25, Parkinson stopped a vehicle for going 47 in a 30 mph zone in the 800 block of Kessler. A citation was issued.
On Jan. 25, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Anderson and Hillje for running a stop sign.
On Jan. 27, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of Kessler for a vehicle speeding 10 percent or over and an obscured license plate.
On Jan. 28, Parkinson stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 300 block of Kessler. A citation was issued for going 35 in a 25.
On Jan. 29, Officer Dwayne Meager stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for improper use of lighting equipment and turning from wrong lane in the 100 block of Kessler. Warnings were issued.
On Jan. 29, Meagher stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 100 block of Kessler for going 48 in a 35. The vehicle also had a headlamp out and citations were issued.
Welfare Check
On Jan. 24, McFadden was dispatched to the 500 West Ave. for a welfare check.
Miscellaneous
On Jan. 23, Castilleja observed an 18-wheeler stopped in the middle of the highway by Pilot with hazard lights on. Officer Kalina also arrived and assisted with traffic control. The truck had run out of diesel.
On Jan. 27, Castilleja was dispatched to Pilot in reference to two truck drivers possibly getting into an argument. Upon arrival the truck drivers were already moving to different parking spots.
On Jan. 28, Castilleja was dispatched to the 1100 block of Summit in regard to a noise complaint.
On Jan. 28, Vincent spoke with individual in the 1100 block of Summit for loud music.
