Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Wednesday, Feb. 2. Deputy Jared Michalec responded to a call of a stolen vehicle in the Fayetteville area. The owner advised they had parked the vehicle, running, with the key in the ignition, and gone into a business and when they returned the vehicle was gone.

The Round Top Historical Society will hold their annual Garage Sale fundraiser. The dates are as follows: Saturday, Feb. 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Household goods, furniture, antiques, decorative items, glassware and more will be for sale at our campus behind the Round Top Post Office at 397 E. Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on On Monday, Feb. 7 at approximately 10:45 p.m. Sgt. Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop on a 2018 blue Dodge Charger for an equipment violation near I-10 eastbound mile marker 668.

A number of local offices will be up for election in 2022 in the May 7 municipal and school board elections (not to be confused with the county primaries March 1) . A grass fire on Janssen Rd. burned about two acres of dry pasture Monday afternoon. La Grange Volunteer Fire Department received the call around 3 p.m. The property owner was burning some brush on the property. The fire got out of control and spread to the surrounding field. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze. La Grange Fire Chief Franke Menefee the rain that fell last week did little to diminish the threat of wildfire due to all the dry vegetation killed by recent freezes. Photo by Andy Behlen

Over the past week the Incredible Knockouts have been busy helping the community. Donations were made to the Flatonia Fire Department, Moulton Fire Department, and the Muldoon Fire Department. Some of the Knockouts were also able to help the local Rotary Clubs on their Day of Service as they helped Rise Against Hunger in preparing meals for others. The Incredible Knockouts are a non-profit organization based in Flatonia. The Knockouts were able to help local first responders and other community organizations through the money raised at their annual shrimp boil fundraiser. More donations coming soon.

The Fayette County Firefighter’s Association reports the following calls for the week of Jan. 30 through Feb.

As of Feb. 4, the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter closed the week with 99 animals in care: 49 cats/50 dogs. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.
