Texas Ramp Project The Texas Ramp Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides free wheelchair ramps to low-income older adults and people with disabilities identified by local health care providers. Ramps are built exclusively with volunteer labor, keeping costs to a minimum and are built without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, age, or gender.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of March 13-19: Agency Assist On March 14, Castilleja was dispatched to the 600 block of east exit ramp in reference to a possible 18-wheeler that was on fire. Officer arrived and driver had already put the fire out.

In Friday’s edition we hit some of the highlights from last week’s monthly meeting of the La Grange Independent School District’s Board of Trustees. Here’s some more: Proposed Fiber Improvements Director of Technology David Bennett has reported that the district is in need of updated internet connection within the district.

The Texas German Society held their State Convention on Saturday, March 19, at the VFW Hall in Tomball. At this event, the Texas German Society presented Scholarship Monetary awards to local students who are enrolled in German language classes at their respective high schools and on their way to college in the Fall.

The Fayette County Commissioners Court unanimously approved a request last Thursday to pay for training in South Padre Island for up to two officers from each law enforcement agency in the County. The money will come from the County Attorney’s Forfeiture Fund.
