Volunteers Needed

Hospice Brazos Valley is in need of volunteers to help with special events and provide company and support to patients and their families. If you are interested in helping patients or Hospice Brazos Valley, contact Bobbie Nash at bnash@hospicebrazosvalley.org or (979) 968-6913. Training is provided on an individual basis.

Scholarship

The Fayette Community Foundation is now accepting applications for their 2021-2022 Scholarship. This scholarship offers a minimum of $1,000 to graduating high school and homeschool seniors within an 80- mile radius of La Grange who intend to further their education and training at an accredited college, university, or trade school. Applications can be found at faycofoundation.com or with local high school counselors.

Noon Lions Club

Caleb Parks, City of La Grange Main Street Manager, will be the guest speaker at the La Grange Noon Lions Club meeting on Thursday, March 31 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club in La Grange.

Beekeepers Association Meeting

The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will have their next meeting on Saturday, April 2, at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. For new beekeepers, there will be a Beekeeping 101 presentation starting at 4:30 p.m. and it will be a great opportunity to meet up with experienced beekeepers who can serve as mentors or advisors. A potluck dinner will follow and guests are welcome to bring their favorite sides/desserts. Afterward, there will be a business meeting, an open discussion on bee-things, and possible guest presentation. Membership dues for 2022 will be collected ($25/year, individual or family). Although membership is not required to attend the meeting, FaycoBeeks welcomes all new members and especially encourages young beekeepers and their families to join. Regular meetings are the first Saturday of even-numbered months (April, June, etc). More information on FaycoBeeks can be found at faycobeeks.org.

Schulenburg Sausagefest

Join Schulenburg Sausagefest for a day of fun, music and sausage on Saturday, April 2 in downtown Schulenburg. Festivities begin at 11:25 a.m. with the shortest parade in Texas. Live music all day. Arts and crafts vendors, childrens activities, a fun run plus a hog calling contest and sausage toss contest. For more information, visit www. schulenburgsausagefest.com.

Salem Cemetery Association Meeting

The Salem Cemetery Association will have their annual meeting and memorial service on Sunday, April 3 beginning at 2 p.m. at the cemetery pavillion.

Retired Teachers’ Field Trip

The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association will have a field trip on Monday, April 4, at the Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main St. in La Grange at 10 a.m. Lunch after, at Reba’s. Those planning to stay for lunch, contact Kathy Migl at (979) 966-3079 or email kmigl2000@yahoo.com by Friday, April 1. While the association’s name may imply only teachers, all retired personnel are invited and welcomed, even if from another city, county, or state.

Hospice Brazos Valley Arts/Crafts

Hospice Brazos Valley is again sponsoring the Christmas Arts and Crafts Market on the first Saturday in December. It will be held Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. If interested in becoming a vendor for the Christmas Market, pick up an application at the Hospice office located at 1048 N.
