The Fayette County Record made a breezy stop in Cape Town, South Africa, with John and Elizabeth Binning of West Point (center), visiting former La Grange residents Dustin, Madison, Isabella, and Lynne Strever (left to right), with Table Mountain rising behind them. With kite surfers skimming the waves in the distance, the Binning’s’ adventure also included a Karoo desert safari, a visit to the African penguin colony at Boulders Beach, the Cape of Good Hope, and the wine country of Franschhoek.

Fermentation Workshop Brings Kimchi To Center Stage in LG

If you heard joyful chopping sounds echoing through La Grange this past week, don’t worry it was a Fermentation Workshop hosted by Fayette Public Library; Women, Infants & Children (WIC) office; and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office. The program highlighted traditional fermentation methods with a special spotlight on one of the world’s most iconic fermented foods: kimchi.

Support Local Youth at Warda Bunch Show BBQ Pork Fundraiser April 18

The Warda Bunch Show Fund, supporters of the Lee County Junior Livestock Show exhibitors, will have a BBQ Pork Fundraiser on Saturday, April 18. Pork butts will be sold by the piece. Each piece will be approx. 2.5-4 lbs. for $12 a pound. Cups of sauce are available for $3 each. Orders will be taken for how many pieces (not pounds) you would like. Pick up will be at the Holy Cross picnic grounds from 4-6 p.m. Preorder by calling the church office at (979) 242-3333 by Friday, April 10.

Tractor Supply Hosts Farmers Market April 4

On April 4, the La Grange Tractor Supply store will host a Farmers’ Market featuring locally-grown, fresh produce, as well as other seasonal products.

“This is a great opportunity for members of our community to support local farmers while also getting to enjoy deliciously fresh food,” said Rachael Campbell, manager of the La Grange store. “As a company, we believe in fos tering community relationships while supporting the rural lifestyle, and this event allows us to do just that.”
