Fermentation Workshop Brings Kimchi To Center Stage in LG

If you heard joyful chopping sounds echoing through La Grange this past week, don’t worry it was a Fermentation Workshop hosted by Fayette Public Library; Women, Infants & Children (WIC) office; and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office. The program highlighted traditional fermentation methods with a special spotlight on one of the world’s most iconic fermented foods: kimchi.

Participants learned how fermentation transforms simple ingredients into nutrient- rich, flavor-packed staples found in cultures across the globe. Participants left with their own jars of kimchi to ferment at home, along with printed guides to continue experimenting with sauerkraut, pickles, and other beginner-friendly ferments.

Appreciation is extended to everyone who joined to celebrate culture, flavor, and good bacteria, plus La Grange H-E-B for their donation which helped make this event a success.
