MS-150 Bike Ride Enters Fayette County April 30

The MS150 charity bike ride will enter Fayette County on April 30 at approximately 12 noon. The race will enter from the west on FM 153 in Winchester and from the east on FM 159 in the Willow Springs Area. The western path of the race will enter the county on FM 153 from Buescher State Park and continue to SH 77. The eastern path of the race will follow the same route it always has in the past; both routes will end at the Fayette County Fairgrounds for the overnight stay. It is anticipated that all riders will be off the road no later than 6 p.m.

Heavy traffic impacts are expected from noon until about 5 p.m. on April 30. Drivers traveling in the impacted areas are asked to do so in a safe and courteous manner and follow all directions of the numerous members of the public safety community that will be helping with the flow of traffic.

The ride will depart on Sunday, May 1, from the Fayette County Fairgrounds at approximately 6 a.m. Riders will take two pathways out of the county. Affected roads include FM 2145, the Texas Highway 71 frontage road, SH 159, SH 237, Hinze Rd., Hills Rd., Carmine Cemetery Rd, Centennial St. (Spur 458), and Fuchs Rd.

Riders should be through the county by noon on Sunday, headed for to their final destination on the 50-yard line of Kyle Field in College Station. All in all, the ride will impact Harris, Waller, Austin, Fayette, Bastrop, Travis, Burleson, Washington and Brazos Counties.

Fayette County EMS is working in partnership with the Capital Area of Texas Regional Advisory Council to provide and coordinate assets related to not only providing medical care for riders but also to help ensure that the emergency medical needs of the community are met while the event is visiting the county. Area law enforcement are also working extremely hard to ensure that a very high level of safety exists while this event is here. The MS150 has made a significant financial investment in public safety resources to ensure both a safe ride and that local communities are insulated from as much impact as possible.
