RT Hermann Sons This month’s meeting of the Round Top Hermann Sons Life Lodge No. 151 will be on Thursday, June 23 at the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post at Round Top beginning at 6 p.m.

La Grange Fire Department put out a fire that burned about two-and-a-half acres on Makinson Rd. near West Point last Friday, June 17.

A fire near Walhalla burned about a half-acre of woods along with an abandoned house Thursday afternoon, June 16. Round Top-Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department received a call reporting a fire near the corner of Walhalla Rd.

Juneteenth celebrations took place in La Grange on Saturday, June 18. The day kicked off with a parade through La Grange, starting near La Grange Elementary School and ending west of the Courthouse. The parade consisted of 18 lively entries led by a La Grange fire truck carrying Mayor Jan Dockery and Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Weishuhn. Several local youth groups and civic organizations took part. There were also motorcycles, classic cars and an equestrian group.

Max Reese, a 23-year-old clarinet player from Chicago, made the move from the big city to small-town Round Top for the summer. Alongside other top student musicians from around the world, Reese will be participating in the orchestra at the Round Top Festival Institute. Reese is using this experience to prepare for his future, in which he aspires to be a professional orchestra musician.

Le Petite Gourmet Shoppe’s cooking classes, Kids ‘N The Kitchen, have kicked off for the summer. Instructor Coy Heinrich teaches the classes for children ages five to twelve.

The Bluebonnet Lions prepared a thank you treat on May 12 for our elementary teachers Pre-K though 6th Grade. They happily offered coke floats to 120 teachers in appreciation for their outstanding service to our children.
