Local Houston Livestock Show Winners

Several Fayette County youth competed at the Houston Livestock Show last month and brought home awards. Schulenburg Landry Zapalac won grand champion female in the Junior Dairy Brown Swiss Show with her cow “Zap-Tex Dynamite Sangria.” Blaine Zapalac won grand champion female in the Junior Dairy Holstein Show with his cow “Erbacres Soloman Delanie.” Blaine Zapalac also placed first in the Texas State Holstein Show.

Remnant Academy Hatches Chicks

One of the preschool classes at the Remnant Academy took the initiative to expand the children’s learning by having them observe the egg hatching process in class. The class theme was “Animals” and one of the teachers, Thrina McCarty, has experience with the process.

Bluebonnet Master Gardener Association Announces Annual Summer Kids Kamp

The Bluebonnet Master Gardener Association is proud to announce its fifth year of holding Kids’ Kamp in Washington, Colorado, Fayette, and Austin Counties. This program is structured to provide a “hands on” educational experience with the goal of introducing youth of our area to the fun and importance of gardening, soils, water conservation, and insects.

The American Angus Association, with more than 25,000 active adult and junior members, is the largest beef breed association in the world.

Criminal Mischief Ruins $5,500 in BBQ

Back Porch Barbecue in La Grange lost $5,500 in spoiled food and other damage after a man allegedly shut off their electricity overnight. The business discovered the loss after finding the man asleep on the front porch of the restaurant on Monday, April 11.
