Bubbles at the Library

The first Fayette Public Library event for the month of July happened this past Wednesday, July 6. “Shelly McBubbles,” also known as Michelle Anderson of the Texas Bubblers, explained the complexity of bubbles and bubbleology to the kids in attendance. Fayette Leads Region In Economic Growth

Sales tax revenue continues to soar for counties in this area, but Fayette County is flying higher than all the rest. Of the nine area counties that levy the optional local sales tax, all but one are seeing double-digit gains compared to this time last year.

Deputies Busy with Multiple Arrests Over Holiday Weekend

On Friday, July 1, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Moore stopped a 2009 Toyota sedan near Flatonia. After further investigation, two occupants identified as Saul Curiel and Juan Lopez were arrested for tampering with physical evidence. Moore also located narcotics inside the vehicle as well as $7,561 in US currency which was seized.

AMEN Serves 144 More Families Than Last Year

AMEN continued to be busy in the month of June. A total of 291 families were served for the month which included 812 individuals. A total of 129 volunteers for 289 hours served the pantry. A total of 1,944 pounds of food were donated. The pantry served 144 more families versus prior year total to an increase of 355 individuals to prior year June. The impact of inflation has brought more individuals to require food.
