Four people including a child perished in a multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 10 Wednesday, July 6, west of Flatonia. The crash happened around 11:21 a.m. about five miles east of Waelder near the Fayette-Gonzalez County Line.

A truck driver from Weimar died in a crash on Interstate 10 near Luling on Friday, July 1. The crash happened around 2:32 a.m., about 2.3 miles southeast of Luling.

Schulenburg Police report that a pair of theives were caught on camera stealing $16,000 in cigarettes from the new Texan convenince store that opened just over a week ago. The theft took place at approximately 2:10 p.m.

Sales tax revenue continues to soar for counties in this area, but Fayette County is flying higher than all the rest. Of the nine area counties that levy the optional local sales tax, all but one are seeing double-digit gains compared to this time last year.
