Legion, Auxiliary
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 13 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. Installation of the 2022-2023 Officers for the Post will take place. Members are encouraged to attend and give their support to the newly installed officers. A light meal will be served following the meeting.
VBS in Ledbetter
Hay Day Vacation Bible School will be held in Ledbetter at the Soul Cafe Church from July 13-15 beginning at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. for ages pre-school through 5th grade. If you have question, contact Dana at (979) 277-5130.
Community Sale
The Rotary Club of La Grange will be hosting a community garage sale at the Historic Casino Hall benefiting La Grange Police Officer Curtis Zwahr. Officer Zwahr lost his young wife soon after giving birth to their premi-son born three months early. Officer Zwahr’s son is still in the NICU. This community garage sale will help defray the medical bills for both his wife and infant son. Monies will also help cover funeral costs. $5 early bird access July 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. Free admission July 23 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drop off your gently used clothes, shoes, books, toys, electronics, furniture, dishes, tools, etc. to the Historic Casino Hall located at 254 N. Jefferson Street from July 15-22.
Camp Shakespeare
The Camp Shakespeare performances of Macbeth on July 15, 16, and 17 have been canceled due to COVID.
Food Bank Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, July 16 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers.
Community Blood Drive
There will be a community blood drive on the square in Fayetteville on Saturday, July 16 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The drive is sponsored by the Fayetteville/Ellinger Knights of Columbus. Everyone is invited to participate because there is always a need for the gift of life. Drop ins are welcome. Annual Firemen’s Fundraiser
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department will have it’s annual Firemen’s Fundraiser dinner of fried chicken on Sunday, July 17 from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. or until sold out at the Carmine Hall. Desserts will be available. Donations will be accepted as payment for meal.
Verlene Kuntschik Benefit
In memory of Verlene Kuntschik, and to provide assistance to the Hrachovy-Kuntschik families, a benefit will be held at the Mullins Prairie Store on Sunday, July 17 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. A pork steak meal will be served for $12. Items for the silent auction, drawing or donations of any kind are welcomed.
LG Summer Soccer Camp
The LG Soccer Camp for boys and girls in grades kindergarten through 8th grade (for 2022-23 school year) will take place on July 18-20. Session I (K-3) from 5:30-7:00; Session II (4-8) from 7:00- 8:30. Cost is $45. Cash or checks made out to LGISD. Contact Coach Westall at chris.westall@lgisd.net, for more information.
Farm Bureau Family Night
The Swiss Alp/Ammannsville/Dubina Farm Bureau will have its yearly family night on Tuesday, July 19. The meal will be catered, and the fee is $5 per person. Call (979) 247-4168 or (979) 247-4151 for reservations. Guests are encouraged to join. Social will begin at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.
VFW Post, Auxiliary Meeting
The monthly meetings and a social for the La Grange Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary will be held on Tuesday, July 19 at the VFW Home in La Grange. The Auxiliary will meet at 5 p.m., the social will be at 6 p.m., and the VFW Post will meet after the social.
The Wonderful World of Water
Dive into stories, songs, and science with storyteller, musician, and author Kim Lehman. This is a free program and open to the public. Please bring a picnic blanket and lawn chair. Thursday, July 21 at 4 p.m. at the Round Top Family Library 208 W. Mill St. in Round Top.
Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
Vietnam Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter No. 870 will meet July 20 always on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
Widowed Spouses Support Group
Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Grief Support Group on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1l:30 a.m. for anyone who is grieving the loss of a spouse. Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support
Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Alzheimer’s or Dementia Support Group and will meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Hospice Brazos Valley is located at 1048 N. Loss of a Child Support Group
A support and education group for a parent or grandparent who is grieving the loss of a child at any age or any stage of the grieving process will be held the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Hospice Brazos Valley located at 1048 N.
