Deputies Busy with Multiple Arrests Over Holiday Weekend
On Friday, July 1, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Moore stopped a 2009 Toyota sedan near Flatonia. After further investigation, two occupants identified as Saul Curiel and Juan Lopez were arrested for tampering with physical evidence. Moore also located narcotics inside the vehicle as well as $7,561 in US currency which was seized.
On Saturday, July 2 at approximately 11:39 p.m. Sgt. Ryan Meagher stopped a 2002 Chevrolet S10 in the West Point area. After further investigation the driver was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Frances Rodriguez was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
On Sunday, July 3 at approximately 12:45 a.m. Deputy Orlando Buitron responded to a bar in the Round Top area in reference to an intoxicated male making threats. After further investigation, Ernesto Cantu was placed into custody for public intoxication and terroristic threat.
Then at 1:51 a.m. Sgt. Meagher stopped a 2013 Hyundai Accent in the Schulenburg area. After further investigation, the driver, who is a registered gang member, convicted felon and on parole for aggravated robbery was found to be in possession of narcotics, a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun and an AR-15 rifle. The driver identified as Jayshun Nolden was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm by felon.
Sunday evening at approximately 11:30 p.m. Deputy Austin Moore stopped a 2012 Volkswagen sedan in the Schulenburg area. During the stop, one of the occupants fled from Moore on foot. Moore pursued the subject and a taser was deployed. Moore then was able to safely get the subject into custody. It was determined the subject lied about his identity and was actually wanted for a 1st degree felony warrant for aggravated robbery out of Fayette County. Arthur Shepert Jr. was arrested for the warrant as well as several other charges including evading on foot and several narcotics charges.
Sunday evening at approximately 11:49 p.m. Deputy Orlando Buitron stopped a 2010 Dodge Charger near La Grange. After further investigation, methamphetamine was located which was concealed inside the dashboard of the vehicle. The passenger identified as Jared Rougeou was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
On Monday July 4, at approximately 1:53 a.m. Deputy Jared Michalec stopped a 2009 Mazda sedan in the Ellinger area. After further investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of THC wax which is a controlled substance in Texas. Robert Massey was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
