Football Camps
Two football camps are being offered, July 20-22 beginning at 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Leopard Stadium. Price is $40 and is for ages 3rd grade through 8th. For more information, contact Coach Kates. Camp for incoming 9th graders is July 27- 29 beginning at 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Price is $40.
Bulk Trash Pickup
The City of La Grange has designated Saturday, July 23 as Residential Bulk Curbside Pick-Up Day for the hard to dispose of bulky items that are difficult for you to take to our drop off during our semiannual cleanup. Republic Services will pick up one free load of bulky items on this day. All items should be within three feet of the curb by 5 p.m. on Friday. Trucks will be starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning to pick up items from the entire city. Bulk items include: stoves, refrigerators and air conditioners which have been tagged and certified as being “freon free” by a licensed technician, microwaves,water heaters, washing machines/ dryers, barbeques, mattresses, chairs, recliners, couches and other furniture. Bulk items not accepted: tires, paint, chemicals, batteries, tile/toilets/bath tubs, mirrors/glass, cinder blocks/ bricks/rocks, construction debris, televisions/computer monitors, motor oil or used filters. Jamboree Celebration in Moulton
The 11th annual community jamboree will be held Wednesday, July 27 hosted by Zion Luthern Church in Moulton. Christan music concert featuring Blended Blessings at 5:30 p.m. Worship service at 6:30 p.m. and potluck and ice cream social following the service. Round Top Family Library Kids
The library will host the ocean dance party for kids on Thursday, July 28 from 2:30 until 5 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall 710 FM 1457 in Round Top. Drop off and pick up. This is a free event. DJ Kountry Chick will rock us on the ocean floor. Enjoy the fun family dance. Snacks and drinks will be served.
Round Top Hermann Sons
This month’s meeting of the Round Top Hermann Sons Life Lodge No. 151 will be Thursday, July 28 at the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post at Round Top beginning at 6 p.m. with a social time. The meeting will begin at 6:30 with a meal to follow. This month the members are asked to bring sandwiches, sides or desserts to share.
Texas Exes Thirsty Thursday
Fayette County Chapter of Texas Exes invites all longhorn fans to Thirsty Thursday and will feature the 2022-2023 Scholarship Awardees. Come and meet these fantastic young Longhorns and send them off with a personal “Hook‘Em” on Thursday, July 28 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Oaks at High Hill, 1800 Bruno Rd. in Schulenburg. All Longhorn fans are welcome. Members, non-members, those thinking about becoming members, or even those that just really like UT are welcome. Come enjoy some great food and cold beverages with other Longhorn fans.
Tri-County Friends of NRA Event
The 17th Annual Tri-County Friends of the NRA will be held Friday, July 29 at the Schulenburg KC Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. for games, raffles, live auction and fun for all. Choral Workshop at St. James Episcopal
All area singers are invited to an all-day, free choral workshop led by the accomplished Artistic Director and Conductor of Houston Masterworks Chorus, Dr. Paulo Gomes.This is a rare chance to expand your knowledge of choral singing techniques and to meet fellow singers. LHS Class of 1980 Reunion
The LHS class of 1980 will be meeting at Jay Deez Bar and Grill Friday, July 29 at 7 p.m. Dutch treat. Everyone is welcome. Main event will be Saturday, July 30 at Ruttersville Sons of Herman Hall at 4 p.m. This will be potluck covered dish meal. Bring your favorite recipe and favorite beverage. Camp Lone Star BBQ & Auction Michael Meissner, pastor of LifeBridge Church in Cypress, and
Michael Meissner, pastor of LifeBridge Church in Cypress, and Executive Director of a non-profit ministry, Abba’s House, will be the featured speaker at the Annual Barbecue Worship service at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 31 at Camp Lone Star’s La Grange campus. All persons from the area are invited. In addition to the service, the day kicks off with special music at 10:30 a.m. from the summer staff, and includes the traditional barbecue dinner at 12 noon with noodles and all the trimmings. Drive-thru barbecue plates can also be purchased for $10 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Live and silent benefit auctions follow from 1-3 p.m. indoors in the camp’s Koop Center. The auction is one of the main events which support Camp Lone Star each year. Last year more than $103,000 was raised thanks to dedicated friends and the local community.
TWL Grant Application
Since 2004, the Texas Women’s League has distributed more than $1,400,000 to over seventy qualifying non-profit organizations located in or providing services for Fayette County. To qualify for funding, organizations must be located in or provide services for Fayette County, in existence for at least one year, certified non-profit organization, and hold a current 501(c)(3) designation by the I.R.S. The 2022-2023 online grant application will be available Aug. 1. Peter Pan and Wendy Performance

Family Reunion Cancelled
The Simmons, Lemons, and Adams annual family reunion has been canceled because of current conditions. Family is hoping and praying to resume on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023. Please note that the annual family reunion has been changed from August to September beginning 2023. Additionally, family is in the process of designing a website and should be finalized by the end of August.
