Schmidt Retiring From LGISD
One of the longest serving La Grange teachers is retiring.
Sherry Schmidt, who taught second grade at Hermes Elementary for 33 years in the same classrooom before moving to the new building the last two years, informed the school she plans to retire and her resignation was accepted at Monday’s board meeting.
Other resignations accepted at Monday’s meeting were those of high school science teacher Kristie Kemp, elementary counselor Tracy Weishuhn, and Dolly Sammels in the transportation department.
Meanwhile, several new hires were made, including:
• Ragan Watson as a elementary PE Coach
• Caleb Carlile as high school science teacher
• Trentisa Carlton as a elementary teacher
• Scottson White as a high school science teacher
• Former LGISD coach James Magness was rehired as a middle school coach
• Cynthia Heyling as a high school teacher
• Cedric Hampton as a high school science teacher
• Ralph Ferguson as a High School AEP teacher
• Robyn Weyand as an administrative assistant
There were also four individuals who are transferring positions within the district:
• Laura Orona is transferring from a high school educational aide to an elementary bilingual teacher
• Josias Hernandez is transferring from a high school educational aide to a high school Spanish teacher
• Karissa Kleiber is transferring from a middle school teacher to an elementary instructional specialist
• Katey Crowley is transferring from a teacher at the elementary to an instructional specialist at the elementary.
