Four in Custody for Narcotics After Traffic Stops

On Tuesday, May 31, at approximately 12:38 a.m. Deputy Austin Moore initiated a traffic stop on a 2022 black Toyota Camry on IH-10 eastbound near mile marker 661. After further investigation, the driver identified as Isaac Marcantel, 20 of Seguin, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of marijuana.

A crowd overflowing with gratitude gathered Monday at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home in La Grange for the annual Memorial Day Ceremony to honor the memory of local veterans who have passed on. “Today we celebrate 17 years of bringing this program to La Grange,” said John Bevill, whose family owns and operates the funeral home.

The occasion affectionately known as Juneteenth, has not only become a Texas tradition but is rapidly becoming a nationwide trend. It commemorates General Granger informing Texas Slaves of their freedom on June 19, 1865 provided by the Emancipation Proclamation signed January, 1863.

Good Old Summertime Classic Bike Ride is June 4-5

The annual Good Old Summertime Classic bike ride, hosted by Fayetteville Cycling, is almost here. On Sunday, June 5th, the ride begins from the historic town square in Fayetteville, Texas. All proceeds from the ride benefit the Fayetteville Independent School District.

Missing Parrot Sought

Betty Yoakum of Fayetteville is desperately trying to find her parrot “Tookie.” He is a Yellow-Headed Amazon Parrot that Yoakum has had for 35 years, and he has an extensive vocabulary. Tookie lives in a large cage in a side building next to Yoakum’s house in Fayetteville.

Ribbon-Cutting at Red Antler Bungalows

A ribbon-cutting was held at the Red Antler Bungalows at 125-137 Gretchen’s Way, Round Top on Saturday May 14. Co-owners are John Cone and Greg Fourticq. Red Antler Bungalows is a luxury hotel on the edge of town near Festival Hill along the banks of Boggy Branch Creek. Each bungalow has two equally-sized king bedrooms with ensuite baths, walk-in closets, full kitchen, washer/dryer, dining area, living room with a fireplace, and screened porches. Along adjacent walking paths the property will also include a fire pit, gas grilling area and a swimming pool.
