Three Arrested on Drug and Weapons Charges After Traffic Stops Here

On Wednesday, June 22 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Sgt. Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop on a 2006 green Ford Freestyle in the Schulenburg area. After further investigation, Meagher located methamphetamine which was concealed inside the driver’s under garments. The driver, identified as Karla Stevens, 44 of Schulenburg, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Bluebonnet Offices Are Closed July 4

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative’s offices will be closed Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Bluebonnet members can access their account information and make payments while the offices are closed through the co-op’s website at bluebonnet.coop.

June 23-30, 1972 La Grange Independent School District trustees lowered the school tax rate by 10¢ per $100 valuation at a Monday night meeting because property valuation within the district had increased by over $775,000 in 1971. The assessed valuation for 1973 was $24,730,000 compared to $23,976,900 in 1972.

Frisch Auf! Fireworks Still a Go For July 3

A note from Frisch Auf! about their annual fireworks show in La Grange: “At this time, we have received the go ahead to move forward with our fireworks show on July 3rd at Frisch Auf Country Club, due to the fact that the show is done from the golf course, which has an irrigation system. We will have two volunteer fire department trucks on site as well. We hope that you come out and join us Sunday July 3. The fun starts at 6:30 p.m. outside by the Pro Shop and tennis courts. Food, Drinks and Live Music by Jimmy Rohde, Aaron Gross and The Bandits.”

Juvenile Trio Responsible For Wolters Park Vandalism

Schulenburg Police caught three juvenile suspects whom they said are responsible for the vandalism at Wolters Park last week. Police said on Wednesday night, June 22, someone caused major damage to the brick barbecue pits at Wolters Park.
